PARISH OF ST. HILARY, DIOCESE OF TRURO

St. Hilary church is part of the cluster of churches that form the benefice of Ludgvan, Marazion, Perranuthnoe and St. Hilary.

At St. Hilary the priest is Canon Noel Michell, The Rectory, St Hilary Churchtown, Penzance, TR20 9DQ. Telephone 01736 710229 for all enquiries for weddings, funerals and other pastoral matters.

The church tower and spire date back to the 13th century, while the nave and chancel were rebuilt in Victorian times after a major fire.

The church has a special place in the story of the Anglo Catholic movement in Cornwall.  Fr. Bernard Walke and St. Hilary will always be linked. His story is told in the book ‘Twenty Years at St. Hilary’. The church, through Bernard Walke has strong links with the Newlyn School of artists, his wife being a member of that circle. Much of the present interior beauty is due to that association.

We warmly welcome visitors. The church is to be found in St. Hilary Churchtown. From Goldsithney east on the B3280 turn left to St Hilary school then immediately left to Churchtown and follow the road to its terminus, where parking can be found.

Services of the church are normally –

Sunday 9:30am - Sung Eucharist

Wednesday 10am - Holy Communion

Carols at St. Hilary and Midnight Mass at Christmas are experiences not to be missed!

The Patronal Festival is the Sunday nearest to January 13th.

The traditional Pilgrimage Service is held in August to mark the festival of the Virgin Mary.
